Why NOT teacher questioning in response
Default responses to learners in classrooms is asking questions. In turn, learners look for positive or affirming responses. The teacher responds evaluatively or poses another question.
Jannie will tease what this dominate pattern of exchange in the classroom does NOT do for learning and opening up the minds and expression of all in the classroom. She will ‘flip’ the responsive stance of teachers and explore the ‘gifting alternative’ to questions and affirmations.
